Our prestigious and unparalleled Awards Ceremony will honour women in the law, parents and allies whom are pioneers, emerging leaders and ambassadors; whom influence, empower and shape women and working parents in the law; whom are advocates for diversity, equity, innovation and progression; and whom instill a passion for the law, professional excellence and performance. It’s an incredible opportunity for us to all to learn from our finalists and winners; and to celebrate their courage, goals and contributions to the law. We’ll celebrate our diverse and thriving community; showcase extraordinary examples of courage, kindness, leadership, innovation, and achievements; recognise those who have gone above and beyond in the course of their work and service.
Who have you looked up to in the profession?
Who has inspired you to take a certain path? Or explore a particular area of law or practice?
This award is for our role models. Let’s celebrate exemplary woman in the legal profession whose longstanding experience, leadership, vision and commitment to excellence inspires others and has paved the way forward.
Selection Criteria (Questions):
Demonstrated Impact: The nominee must have a track record of significant and lasting impact within the legal profession. Their actions and leadership should have led to positive change and progress, inspiring others to follow their path.
Mentorship and Support: The nominee should have shown a strong commitment to mentoring and supporting others in the legal field. They should be acknowledged for their role in paving the way for others.
It takes courage to start before (they think) you’re ready. This award recognises mums who have recently commenced their legal career or are studying law and have demonstrated leadership, initiative, often against the odds or naysayers, and are driving positive change in the legal community.
Selection Criteria (Questions):
Leadership and Initiative: The nominee should demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities, taking initiative to drive positive change in the legal community. Their actions should highlight their potential as a future leader.
Community Contribution: The nominee should have made a significant contribution to the legal community, even in the early stages of their career or during their law studies. This could include pro bono work, community involvement, or any other efforts that have positively impacted the legal field.
Sometimes we don’t give enough recognition to the strength and dedication of those who assist from behind the scenes, or in a supportive role. Our allies support working mums to shine and this award acknowledges an exceptional individual, regardless of gender, who through their advocacy and commitment create a more inclusive and supportive legal community for working mothers as a dedicated ally.
Selection Criteria (Questions):
Dedicated Advocacy: The nominee should be recognised for their unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of working mothers in the legal profession. Their efforts should create a more inclusive and supportive environment for lawyer parents.
Collaborative Allyship: The nominee should demonstrate a collaborative and empathetic approach to allyship, demonstrating how they have promoted inclusivity and support for working mothers.
The caretakers of our profession, Community Champions foster connection and wellbeing. This award recognises excellence through innovation in, or the championing of wellness initiatives, that improve the wellbeing of women and parents in the legal profession and build community.
Selection Criteria (Questions):
Innovative Well-Being Initiatives: The nominee should be commended for innovative approaches in championing well-being initiatives that have improved the lives of women and parents in the legal profession.
Community Building: The nominee should have played a pivotal role in building a sense of community within the legal profession, fostering connections, and creating a supportive network for women and parents in the field.
Representation matters. Our diversity ambassador leads the way by showing others what it is possible. This award recognises and promotes the positive impact of a woman and mother who has demonstrated enduring dedication to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within the the legal profession.
Selection Criteria (Questions):
Inclusive Impact: The nominee’s actions and initiatives should have led to a more inclusive legal community, improving opportunities and representation for underrepresented groups and positively influencing the profession. The nominee should be celebrated for their ongoing dedication to fostering an inclusive environment for all.
Inspiring Advocacy: Embodying the motto ‘if you can’t see it, be it!’ the nominee leads by example demonstrating their commitment through concrete actions and initiatives that are dedicated to improving diversity and inclusion within the community.
This Award celebrates a lawyer mum who has had a significant effect or influence on a situation, process, or person, often with the intention of creating positive change. It involves going beyond what’s expected and proactively taking action to make a difference. This can be done in various ways, from individual acts of kindness to large-scale initiatives.
Selection Criteria (Questions):
The Impact: The nominee’s actions and initiatives created a noticeable effect or influence through purposeful effort to create a change.
Inspiring Impact: The nominee paid it forward, sought feedback, motivated others to make an impact, inspired others to adopt positive attitudes and achieve common goals.
• Exceptional leadership and/or vision
• Outstanding legal service and client focus
• Outstanding examples of passion for the law and performance
• Excellence in process improvement and/or innovation
• Exceptional service to the community
